Welcome to Highland Park’s Nursery

Babies and toddlers are wondrous creations given to us by a caring God (Matthew 6:26-30). Here at the nursery in Highland Park we have developed many policies and practices to maximize their safety and foster spiritual development.

Regarding Your Child’s Health

We operate a well-child nursery. For the protection of all the children we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea, or any other signs of illness. We request that you not place your child in the nursery while he or she is at risk of exposing other children.Thank you in advance for helping us keep Highland Park a healthy environment.

What to Bring

When packing a diaper bag for your child please include the following:

  • Two or more disposable diapers (no cloth diapers)
  • Pacifier or other item for comfort
  • A complete change of clothes in the event of an accident
  • A bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water

When you bring your child please make sure to label all items (bottles, bags, etc.).This will enable our staff to more quickly attend to your child’s need. A few pacifier clips are available for use to keep your child’s pacifier with him or her at all times. Please remove these and return them to a staff member before removing your child from the nursery.

Check-in and Check-out

When you bring your child a Highland Park worker will meet you at the door to receive your child, diaper bag, and any other necessary items. At the end of the service please return to a nursery worker, who will then verify release of your child to you. A child will not be released to anyone but the assigned parent. For more detailed information on our check-in/out procedures, please refer to our Kid-Check procedure.

Nursing Mothers

We invite you to come into the nursery and make yourself comfortable in our nursing corner. We offer space for one mom at a time to nurse with privacy. Please ask a Highland Park worker for the exact location.

Saying Good-bye

After you have completed the check-in process, say good-bye to your child and feel free to move to the worship center. It is normal for children to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long and separation becomes easier with time and regular attendance routines. Our Highland Park workers will immediately try to interest your child and create a loving and comforting environment.

Parents’ Service

To ensure safety and achieve maximum care for our children we ask all parents to volunteer once a month. A coordinator will contact you soon after registration to work you into the rotating schedule. We believe parental involvement and support are vital to effective family ministries as we strive to create a safe an nurturing environment for the children of Highlands Church.
