Missions Program:
Highlights:
-
Premise: God’s call to go into the entire world and preach the gospel. Acts 2:8
-
Elders and Pastors have the responsibility to affirm or not affirm candidates
who desire to be local or overseas missionaries. Acts 13:1-3, Acts 15:1-4
-
The Missions Policy seeks to expose members and attendees of
Highlands
Church
the opportunity to see and experience other cultures. It seeks to create in our
body a worldview that contrasts our lifestyle with that of Christians living in
other domestic and foreign cultures. Acts 15:22
-
This policy seeks to establish relationships with local and foreign like-minded
churches and Pastors, with the hope that we would work together to lead more
men, women and children to Christ. Acts 18:23-25
-
The policy seeks to establish a strategy that makes the best use of limited
funds, by using both Highlands Missionaries, and also reporting nationals in
other cultures. Acts 18:27-28
-
Policy establishes a procedure for commissioning missionaries:
-
Candidates must be called…
-
Candidates must have an exemplary lifestyle.
-
Candidates must show preparation and plans.
-
Candidates must demonstrate that their spiritual gifts match the mission
objective.
-
Candidates must have a proven desire, based on their involvement at
Highlands
Church
or another Christian outreach.
-
Preference is given to Highlands’s members.
-
Qualifications are to be submitted in writing.
-
Elders and Pastors are to affirm the call, and above qualifications,
unanimously.
-
Funds are provided after the above qualifications are met, and as funds are
available.
-
Organizations seeking Missionary Status and support must:
-
Submit request in writing.
-
Outline specific need.
-
Submit the organizations strategic plan, statement of Faith, and a term of
need.
-
Elders and Pastors will vote to affirm need and must be unanimous in agreement
to support the organization.
-
Funds will be issued as funds allow.
-
Elders and Pastors are encouraged to provide short-term missions projects to
give members exposure to missions.
-
Members of Highlands are encouraged to participate in Missions projects, as a
way to use their spiritual gifts, talents and resources.
-
Members who do participate in Missions projects are encouraged to give
testimony in either written or verbal form, before and after their
participation.
-
Most of all we seek to faithfully carry out the great commission, given by our
Lord Jesus Christ, with the hope that Highlands and its members and attendees
will see many receive Christ as Savior and grow in Him.
